Rather convoluted plot but extremely interesting. I would not suggest reading this book before reading "The Angolan Clan". The whole saga begins with a group of men who form an organizational involving in Angolan diamonds. Greed, conspiracy & murder follow the decision of the founders to disolve the organization. The cast of characters is surprising & the suspense holds until the last page of the book. Icant wait for the last book in the trilogy.Product details

A totally enthralling read. The Rwandan Hostage is the sort of book you could so easily become absorbed in. This book is skilfully written, and I like Christopher Lowery’s, fluid and easy writing style. It’s hard to imagine a mother’s pain in losing her son. Initially Emma thought her son must have wondered off while they were at the Soccer world cup. Her nightmare has only just begun when she is shown footage of him being wheeled out of the stadium unconscious. Being kidnapped in Africa is not a place you want to go missing, and this is just the start of her nightmare in getting him back. The Author has done a great job of not only putting together a very interesting story, but also highlighting that there are other parts of the world that have such atrocities happening on our back door step. This is a very hard book to put down, and I would certainly recommend it.
Once in a while a book comes a long that blows you away - and this international thriller is one of them! "The Rwandan Hostage" by Christopher Lowery is the second in the African Diamonds Trilogy; I haven't had the pleasure of reading the highly complemented first book "The Angolan Clan" yet, but I certainly can't wait to read the third, "The Dark Web" when it's published next year. This can still be enjoyed as a thrilling standalone too.
The story derives from the horrific bloodthirsty 1994 Rwandan genocide and its turbulent history. The main plot is set in present time - 2010. Emma, a fiction writer on a once in a lifetime holiday loses her son Leo at a World Cup football match in Johannesburg. She later learns he was abducted. As a parent the nightmare of having your child kidnapped in a place like South Africa doesn't bear thinking about and the following 10 long days leaves you on the edge of your seat.
Its incomprehensible the cruel atrocities that can be done at the hands of humans due to hatred during conflict. The truly sorrowful story of Mutesi and her suffering during that time was heartbreaking. I was tearful at her plight and the descriptions of the genocide murder spree. Christopher Lowery highlighted all these with sympathy and tactful clever writing and has obviously done extensive soulful research into these areas. It's a skilfully written plot, strong, very emotional, full of vengeance, greed, corruption and deceit.
Once again Urbane Publications has published a beautifully printed book produced to the highest of standards and design. I highly recommend "The Rwandan Hostage" to thriller readers of all ages....you won't be disappointed!!

His first book was just as good, so I bought this one too. It would be best to read the other book first.

Christopher Lowery's book two of the African Diamonds trilogy is a must.
Well written and easy to read, the The Rwandan Hostage will keep you turning the pages all night.
The book takes you through a strong and emotional journey of kidnapping, action and resourcefulness. It is well worth letting yourself be grabed along.
I am longing for the third book.
Amazing achievement for this new author of intelligent adventure tales par excellence. Apart from the good story you can learn so much from these first 2 books in the series. Keep up the good work Christopher Lowery!
I enjoyed the first novel so much that I immediately purchased the second and read it nearly non-stop, also. Loved the action, the details, and the clever twists.
